Participate as location (supporter) for an actvity

Schwungrad Serve the City Bremen

We would be happy to cooperate with your organization. For us, Serve the City Bremen is not about creating a parallel structure to different initiatives, but about supporting existing organizations in their good work.

For an activity to be done in cooperation with your organization, please note the following:

A) Depending on the type of activity, four different groups of people come into contact (see inner orange circle):

  1. The staff of your facility.
  2. The beneficiaries your social initiative / organization takes care of.
  3. The Team-Captain who runs the planned activity.
  4. The volunteers, who eventually carry out the activity.

B) The following requirements are necessary:

  1. The staff is generally open to an idea of volunteers and supports consultatory the planned activity.
  2. A Team-Captain can come out of the facility itself. You may already have an internal volunteer management in your organization and can win someone to take the lead for an activity.
  3. Or: An external Team-Captain has approached you and offers you to carry out an activity within your organization.
  4. In day-to-day activities, it is an appreciating sign if the organization in which the activity is carried out compensates for the catering of the volunteers.
  5. Your institution is listed as a supporter and adopts the insurance cover for the volunteers.

C) What to avoid:

  1. The professionals should not be forced by the supervisor to lead such an activity. If this happens, this has a negative effect on the team atmosphere.
  2. If the Team-Captain is provided of your organization, it is important that he is part of the activity the whole time. It is not a good style to explain the work to volunteers only to turn to "more important tasks" afterwards.
  3. Volunteers are not "cheap laborers". Even if we encourage all STC stakeholders to carry out simple back-works, an atmosphere of exploitation must not arise.
